We’ve been traveling with Maya since she was born and even though it was tough at times..nothing prepared us for traveling with a 1 and 3-year-old. We traveled to New York for my brother-in-law’s wedding and boy did this change our prospective of traveling with toddlers. We stayed two nights in the city, then went to Fire Island for three nights and then to Queens for the last night. We had three pieces of luggage, two strollers, two car seats, three backpacks and two crazy toddlers.
Even though it was tough, it was nice seeing all the family (we did miss seeing you Abby) and loved watching Ethan & Suzy tie the knot.
I wish we would have taken more photos but we were consistently running around with Matthew, who wanted to explore and touch everything he was NOT supposed to.
We had a small family gathering to celebrate Matthew’s 1st Birthday. He loved all the attention and enjoyed his 1st piece of cake (well not really his first since his great-grandmother has already snuck all kind of sweets)….
I can’t believe that in 4 days, my favorite little man will be a one year old. He still feels like my little baby and I don’t like him growing up so quickly. There is something special between a mother and her son and when he looks up at me with those big brown eyes, I melt every time.
My wonderful husband surprised me with an adult only vacation to Puerto Vallarta. We spent 3 nights at The Westin Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa and 1 night at the most amazing resort, St Regis Punta Mita. Prior to having children, our vacations started with early rising and then a packed agenda. But being this was our first true childless vacation after having kids, we did NOTHING but relax! We spent countless hours laying by the pool, reading, shopping & dining in downtown, 90-minutes massages and romantic dinners on the beach. We had such an amazing time that we are changing our December trip from Hawaii to Puerto Vallarta (this time with the kids).
So many people asked us if we felt safe traveling to Mexico, and honestly I never felt unsafe or scared during our time in Puerto Vallarta.
I read Hunger Games in the first 24 hours I was there…..couldn’t have had a better spot to read a book….
Our favorite vacation thing to do….a few coronas and good company on the beach…
We stayed on the 1st floor at The Westin Puerto Vallarta…our amazing view…
Last night at The St. Regis Punta Mita….this was by far the nicest and most amazing resort that I’ve ever stayed at….I LOVE IT!!!
All of the below photos were taken at The St. Regis Punta Mita…
We had an outdoor shower, right outside our guestroom…we took about 3 showers…
I wonder how many bloggers are posting messages about Easter today? Well, here is one more to add to the list.
I love the holidays so much more when I can share the excitement with my children. My almost 3-year-old Maya and 9-year-old nephew Ja’kor went to bed last night so excited, anticipating where their basket would be placed and what goodies would be found.
We started the weekend by coloring tie dyed Paas eggs.
(I almost purchased the egg coloring cups and decided that was a waste of money..why not do it the old school and use coffee mugs)…
This morning, the kids woke up at 6am, as they had strict orders that they could peek but couldn’t touch until we were up and able to take some photos.
I didn’t know the Easter Bunny gives cash? Sounds like he is getting a little lazy….
My little guy loved his new Pillow Pet.
The Easter Bunny hid about 140 eggs filled with $$ and jelly beans. The Easter Bunny did get a little lazy and left a few empty. The kids made about $13 each for their hard work.
Yes, this is how I feel right now…it started with picking up the kids at their sitter’s house and Maya bolting out the door and running half way down the street. She then kicked and screamed all the way to the car and while she was getting in, she jumped into the front seat (even though I told her not to) and she bumped her head. She then screamed the whole way home. Now, trying to get her to take a bath was a whole other story as she fought me to take one and then fought me to get out. I then chased her around the house to brush her hair. And wait, it didn’t stop there. She then jumped on the dresser and said, “I can’t hear you”.
All I could think…CALGON TAKE ME AWAY!
As I write this…I hear, “Mommy, Mommy, Mommy…I don’t want to sleep!” I better go get her back to bed. I guess the relaxing bath will have to wait for another night.
My grandmother has spent many hours teaching my sister and I how to make homemade Pierogies. It is one of my personnel favorites and yesterday I was able to spend some time with my family and most importantly Maya, preparing about 16 dozen pierogies.
Maya brought her rolling pin and jumped right into the action…
It was another beautiful day in AZ so Mitch took off work and I took a 1/2 day to spend some time with the kids. Our first stop was Tempe Marketplace for some lunch. Then we went to the Phoenix ZOO, which seemed to be every other family’s idea for spring break. We allowed my nine year old nephew Ja’kor to capture some of our memories with Mitch’s Nikon D3000.
Ja’kor seemed so into taking these photos and was so proud of his finished work. This is a good exercise for any child and a great way to get them into your family outing.
Here are some of the shots he captured. Pretty amazing for a nine year old!
